THE POWER OF DEATH
Monday – Aug 7, 2017
Wow, can you believe it, Monday is upon us again but rejoice another day, another week to do our part in expanding the Kingdom of God and diminishing the world (kingdom of Satan). Greetings and welcome back to our Bible Study in the Book of Hebrews, O what a wonderful study, the Word of God is marvelous in my sight. Now let’s feast our eyes on our primary text from the Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 2:14-18 (KJV)
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Death (physical and spiritual) came by way of sin in the flesh (unrenewed mind and physical body) therefore Jesus (the Word) had to come in a physical body to pay the penalty of sin. His mind (part of the flesh) was never corrupted as was Adams. When Jesus was made sin, the Scripture says the effects were astonishing causing His visage to be marred beyond recognition as a man.
Isaiah 52:14 (KJV)
14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
His dying is not what won the victory over death. Jesus won victory over spiritual and physical death for Himself and all mankind by His victory over sin. The physical and spiritual death of Jesus was 100% unjust. He was completely innocent, without sin in His mind or His body. His soul at His human birth was not dead as the result of the sin of Adam but was alive since it was His very own spirit man from Heaven, the soul of God if you will. His human body was of this earth fashioned by the Father just as God had fashioned Adams body some four thousand years (four days) earlier. That body did not come from Mary and Joseph however it was biocompatible with Mary. That body was the Word become flesh. The spirit man of Jesus was the same as in eternity past only now for a brief time divested of all that made Him as God. His soul (spirit man) was not a creation of Mary and Joseph and thus dead but His spirit man was living, He was born with the breath of life. This innocent man who was God in the flesh was raised to eternal life with an uncorrupted eternal body (flesh and bone), and restored completely in His case as God.
1 Corinthians 15:22-26 (KJV)
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
Eternal spiritual life has been dealt with and we who are born again have attained until eternal spiritual life except under extraordinary circumstances. Physical death continues to be a present reality however the victory has been won and on the last day it will also be dealt with forever.
Revelation 20:11-15 (KJV)
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Until the day that spiritual death is cast forever into the lake of fire, mankind will experience physical death. For you and I brother and sister, our uncorrupted physical body will be attained on the day all the saints of God are called away to Heaven (commonly called the Rapture).
Romans 8:23 (KJV)
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
However, let me point out that our physical death should be decided between us and God (the terms of Heaven). When we have finished our various assignments in the earth for the Kingdom of God and we are satisfied with our life and the work we have done for the Kingdom we by choice can give up the ghost (soul) and be brought on home. Unfortunately, 99.99+% of Christians enter Heaven beat to smithereens by the devil. When will we choose to change that reality to be as the Word of God. Look at Moses’ death and He was not born again with the authority and power invested in us today yet he climbed Mt. Nebo and viewed the Promised Land the day of his death.
Deuteronomy 34:5-7 (KJV)
5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
Just what is our excuse? Look at what the Lord says to all of us.
Psalm 91:14-16 (KJV)
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
When we set our love, that is to obey the Word, on Him we can live a long satisfying life and experience all of the salvation that Jesus purchased and freely gives to all who will love (obey) Him.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
